Data exchange
Within MAHLE´s product development departments, the data exchange management system OpenDXM is used with the ODETTE-system RVS.
MAHLE supports a 2 Mbit/s connection to ENX.
Guidelines
MAHLE uses ENGDAT, the European standard for electronic data exchange (EDI) between the automotive industry and their suppliers, developed by ODETTE. ENGDAT is indispensable to MAHLE because of its security, transmission speed, and compatibility.
In addition, automatic data import is supported only in ENGDAT format. Suppliers, who wish to establish a data transmission connection with MAHLE must be able to meet the technical requirements.
- For successful data transmission using ENGDAT, the guidelines concerning the ENGDAT file name, the ENGDATpackets, and the ENGDAT abstract file must be followed. For further information, please refer to the VDA recommendations.
- Supported standards:
VDA 4914/2 OFTP
VDA 4951 ENGDAT (Engineering Data Message)
VDA 4951 ENGPART (Engineering Partner Data) - CATIA V5 and Pro/ENGINEER assemblies must be packaged using tar or WINZIP.
- Data compressions: WINZIP or gzip.
- Data exchange with external partners must take place using ENGDAT via ISDN/ENX-OFTP online connections. For partners without OFTP software the connection takes place with OpenDXM GlobalX. The only requirement is Internet connection and access to GlobalX.
Formate
At MAHLE, CATIA and Pro/ENGINEER native data exchange is standard.
Neutral geometry formats
In addition to native CATIA V4, V5, and Pro/ENGINEER, the following neutral geometry formats are available:
- VDAFS 2.0 (not CATIA V5)
- IGES 5.2
- STEP AP 214 CC2
- DXF
Please observe the requirements concerning data exchange using neutral geometry formats in the menu item Data communication MAHLE Filtersysteme
