New regional warehouse in Turkey: MAHLE reinforces sales network for Central Asia

In September 2008, the new regional warehouse of MAHLE Aftermarket in Izmir, Turkey, begins operations. Nine months after acquiring a majority stake in the piston and cylinder liner manufacturer Mopisan (known today as MAHLE Mopisan), the integration of the sales organization is nearing its completion.
In the future, the location in Izmir will serve markets in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey itself. The scope of supply includes the entire MAHLE Aftermarket assortment, with pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, assemblies, bearings, valves and valve train components, as well as oil, air, fuel, and cabin air filters. Sales, logistics, technical service, and all other support functions in Izmir have been intensively trained in preparation for the start of operation.
The newly built warehouse has 12,000 sqm of floor space, and was built in three months. With the new warehouse in place, MAHLE customers have the added advantage of being able to observe for themselves the high manufacturing quality of MAHLE Aftermarket products. Pistons for the global spare parts market are produced in the neighboring piston plant in a highly flexible, fully integrated factory organization.
MAHLE expects to see significant growth in the region as a result of this increased presence and reduced lead times.
