Filter elements are only cost-effective if their dirt holding capacity can be utilized to the full. That's why a reliable indication of the proper time to replace the filter element is essential on the filter and in the plant control and monitoring system. In addition, a pre-warning indication of the waning retention capacity is useful to ensure that the replacement filter element is on hand and servicing is planned in time.

In return-line filters, dirt trapped in the filter element causes the flow resistance to increase during operation, resulting in a corresponding increase in back pressure in the return line. With the new electronic MAHLE maintenance indicator, an even longer service life can now be achieved for return-line filter element.

The newly developed PiS 3300-2.9 2SP LED maintenance indicator is a self-monitoring, microprocessor-controlled back-pressure switch for MAHLE return-line filters with two switching outputs, a 360° visual display due to its bright LEDs, and pulse- and cold-start suppression.

An electronic sensor continually measures the back pressure and oil temperature upstream of the return-line filter element. This precise, direct, and virtually hysteresis-free measurement has made it possible to achieve a significant increase in switching values compared to mechanical back-pressure switches. This results in improved utilization of the element capacity and thus a longer filter element service life. And ultimately, it enables a reduction in operating costs.

The PiS 3300-2.9 2SP LED maintenance indicator is equipped with an M12x1 plug connection and therefore meets current market requirements.

This back-pressure indicator can be used on all MAHLE Pi 500 NG 40 to 1000 series return-line filters and is available for immediate delivery.
