MAHLE takes over majority of Brockhaus

In cooperation with several automotive manufacturers, MAHLE currently develops piston-connecting rod modules that are ready for immediate engine assembly. MAHLE already operates connecting rod machining and assembly plants in the US, Mexico and Brazil.

Brockhaus Soehne is the worldwide leading supplier of steel-forged connecting rods. In addition to the main plant in Plettenberg, the company has production locations in Spain and Canada as well as a minority interest in Brazil.

MAHLE acquired 25.1 per cent of the shares in Brockhaus as early as 2001. Now MAHLE has increased its participation to 51 per cent by a one-sided capital increase.

Brockhaus achieved annual sales of approximately 120 million Euros in 2003 and employs approximately 650 people in Plettenberg alone. To reflect the changed majority interest and to support a uniform corporate appearance in the market, Brockhaus Soehne will operate under the name MAHLE Brockhaus GmbH in the future.

The MAHLE Group is the worldwide leading manufacturer of pistons, engine components and filter systems. More than 30,000 employees in 60 manufacturing locations achieved sales of 3.25 billion Euros in 2003. Thus MAHLE is among the 30 largest global automotive suppliers.
