We mourn the loss of Eberhard Mahle

As the son of Ernst Mahle, Eberhard "Ebs" Mahle came into contact with automobiles at an early age. He is said to have taken his first car trips as an 11-year-old – in his parents'' car. These early experiences left their mark. Eberhard Mahle became one of the most successful national and international racing drivers of the 1960s. Winning rallies and hillclimb races alike, he clinched a total of 150 class and overall victories.

Eberhard Mahle’s racing successes earned him the highest sports award in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1967: the Silver Laurel Leaf. With this award, the then German Federal President Heinrich Lübke honored Mahle’s achievements in the field of motorsports.

In the 1970s, Eberhard Mahle was a member of the MABEG Advisory Board and the MAHLE Foundation and remained closely associated with the Foundation until his death.

We share the grief of his family and will always remember Eberhard Mahle with the greatest respect and affection.
