Creditor Relations

The current financing requirement is covered by the operational business activity to the greatest possible extent. The focus is therefore on internal financing. We mainly use financing sources and instruments to protect ourselves against sudden economic fluctuations and to ensure that we have the flexibility to carry out strategically valuable investments.

A syndicated loan with eleven core banks acts as the group’s liquidity reserve. German Private Placement Loans secure the group’s long-term financing. A Debt Issuance Program enables us to reach a wider group of investors, thereby increasing flexibility and independence. In the short term, financing is supplemented by factoring and ABS (asset backed security) programs. The South American group member MAHLE Metal Leve S.A. is listed on the Prime Standard Novo Mercado at the BM&F BOVESPA stock exchange in São Paulo. Thus one group member has access to equity markets.

MAHLE does not have a public rating and does not intent to acquire one. Following our conservative group strategy, we prepare our financial statements in accordance with the German GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

In order to open up to new investors, we concluded a Debt Issuance Program (DIP)—also known as a Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN)—in 2014 which was enlarged on April 30th.This is a flexible financing framework for the issue of public bonds and private placements in the European market. The program serves the long- and medium-term refinancing of the group.
